Abi has 8 teeth
6 on the top, and 2 on the bottom.
6 on the top, and 2 on the bottom.
Abi had a wonderful time visiting with her extended family this weekend. Â She is hoping that some guest bloggers can provide a write-up – – both because she’ll enjoy reading others’ perspectives, and also she is hoping that others will have some good pictures. Â Thanks in advance!
Daddy often feeds Abi. Â Every so often, she hands him some food. Â He hands it back to him. Â She then brings it to her lips to show Daddy what he should do with it. Â She then hands the food back to Abi. Â Because Daddy does not particularly like this food, he is not learning as quickly as Abi would like. Â But that’s ok, she’ll keep showing him until he learns.
She turns it the right way, of course.
Abi woke up Thursday morning, ready to play. Â She was very happy to see Daddy. Â Daddy changed her diaper, and played with her before he went to work. Â Abi played for a while at home, and then went running with Mommy. Â They then got breakfast. Â Abi really enjoyed pushing a chair all through the coffeehouse.
She then came home, and had a nap. Â After lunch, Abi & Mommy went to the library to meet with Abi’s friend Raya (and her Mommy). Â Abi enjoyed looked at a lot of books, and of course nursing. Â Raya’s Mommy decided that she wanted to go to the diner, and so they went. Â Abi tried french toast and pancakes for the first time. Â She liked the former, but not the latter.
As always, Abi stood up while eating (in a booth). Â She had fun banging her sippy cup and looking around. Â Raya’s Mommy thought that Abi is a bit calmer than Raya. Â Abi then went home with Mommy. Â She played, napped, had dinner, Â and finished her day in her favorite position:
The next morning, Abi woke up and Daddy came to get her. Â Daddy was already dressed, and Abi complained about Daddy’s pants. Â She tugged on them, and looked at him judgmentally. Â “Yes, I know that my pants are too big,” Daddy said to Abi.
Abi was very rambunctious. Â She really enjoyed pulling at Mommy’s shirt, pushing Mommy over, pulling Mommy over etc. Â She had a great time.
Abi is getting much better at walking. Â She can walk about 4-6 feet before falling onto her behind. Â She never cries when she falls – she just sits down. Â She is also becoming very active.
Abi loves hearing “good job”. Â It helped us teach her to get down off the couch feet first, and even to put her sippy cup in the high chair sippy cup holder. Â Yesterday, Daddy was feeding her in her high chair. Â He said “good job” when she put the sippy cup into its holder. Â She then proceeded to pretend to drink from the sippy cup and then put it into its holder – – repeatedly – – just to hear what a good job she is doing. Â Good job!
Most parents are familiar with milestone charts. Â Interestingly, a goal for age 16 months is turning pages of a book, and “reading” a book is the goal for 18 months. Â Abi has been doing both since the age of 4 or 5 months.
We are now up to 7 steps. Â Go Abi, go! Â We’re working on getting good footage. Â Please be patient (or alternately come visit us).
Last night was much better. Â She woke up at midnight, but then fell asleep pretty quickly. Â The secret to getting her to go to sleep quickly appears to be keeping the lights off while she nurses, and also removing all the toys from her view. Â She did wake up for the day at 5AM.
Daddy reports that Abi took about 5 steps in a row last night, and 6 steps in a row today. Â She walked the width of her bedroom (from crib to dresser).
Mommy thinks that she sees none of this because Abi just wants to nurse when she’s around Mommy.
Abi is feeling better, though her sleep cycle is still out of whack. Â Last night, she did not want to go to sleep; she just wanted to play. Â Daddy said that that’s another trait she inherited from him. Â Mommy finally got Abi to fall asleep around 1AM. Â Today, it was hard to put her down for her morning nap, but she finally fell asleep around noon and slept until 2PM. Â Mommy hopes that she can put Abi to sleep around 9 or 10 tonight.
Daddy is feeling better too (he has a bad cold.)
She has a cold. Â She had trouble falling and staying asleep last night. Â Mommy & Daddy finally got to sleep around 3AM. Â This morning, she sounds stuffy but looks fine.
