Bathy time: Abi discovers the light switch
Abi got both legs onto the counter, but we don’t have a picture of that.
Abi loves cookies
Poor Abi gets no junk food at home. In class, she gets a cookie snack. In her second class (one week after the first one), she got very excited when she saw the cookies, and raced toward them.
More language skills
Abi can now sign “more”, as well as “all done” and “chicken”. Daddy is especially proud of “chicken”.
Abi the Franky-stein baby
Daddy reports that Abi is starting to walk like Frankenstein. She took four steps in a row today (to reach a remote control).
A very toothy girl
Abi’s fifth tooth (top) just broke through, and it looks like the sixth & seventh tooth (all top) are likely to break through soon. We can see their outlines in her gums. Abi slept quite poorly last night. She was up from 2-4AM, and then was up for the day at 5AM. Poor Daddy was up for the day since 2AM.
Oldies but goodies: Abi first starts to crawl
Talking with Abi
The grandmas have been speaking with Abi over video chat (AOL instant messenger) recently. Â Grandma Linda noticed that Abi tends to be quiet & shy at the beginning of each conversation, but then becomes quite talkative towards the middle & end (i.e., takes some time to warm up). Â She is not sure if Daddy was the same way at her age.
Happy 13 months Abi
Abi is developing more & more. Â A few highlights:
- She now knows the sign for “all done” and is working on the sign for “food”.
- Her favorite game is getting to a feet or so away from Daddy, taking a step toward Daddy & falling on top of him.
- Abi is showing rudimentary tool use. Â She crushed a raspberry with her sippy cup.
- She has enough balance to stand on her tippy toes.
Daddy reports that Abi is starting to take a few steps
in a row! Go Abi.
Abi & family enjoy the great outdoors
and a phenomenal playground we found right outside Harvard Square.
Abi tries to push Daddy over
Pushing people over is one of her favorite activities. Â Check out her arm muscles!
Daddy is proud that Abi can do a one-handed chicken
Abi goes to the park with her parents
She really enjoys the swings and slides now.
Science Museum
Grandma put Abi and her family a year-long Museum of Science membership. Â Abi has already been to the museum twice, once with Mommy & Daddy, and once with Mommy, Abi’s friend and the friend’s Mommy.
Abi enjoyed a number of exhibits, including the toddler water table where she caught plastic fish and turtles. Â She also climbed up an entire flight of stairs all by herself. Â (Mommy was right behind her, but did not help her in any way.) Â Most of all, Abi enjoyed playing with a Coke bottle.
It’s a bit interesting that she enjoyed playing with the bottle near exhibits about waste and mass consumption. Â One of the prints, for example, had over a million soda bottles representing the number of bottles or cans that are dumped into oceans within a certain time period. Â Regardless, Abi was not too bothered by it, and certainly enjoyed her particular bottle.
Afterwards, she went out to dinner, where she enjoyed playing with sugar packets, taking htem out and putting them into a container.
All ready for summer
Abi has pretty dresses, balls, pails, shovels . . .and Mommy has even picked out a kiddie pool for her. Â Abi is all ready for summer.
Daddy thinks Abi is devious
Abi likes pulling Daddy’s hair. Â Daddy does not enjoy having his hair pulled. Â How does Abi convince Daddy to come closer? Â Daddy reports that she opens up her arms as if she wants to give him a hug . . . and then pulls his hair as soon as he comes closer.
Last night, Abi was whining after he put her down for a nap. Â He walked into her room to give her Tylenol. Â However, as soon as she saw him, she pretended to be asleep.
Daddy thinks Abi is devious. Â Mommy thinks Daddy is imagining intent.
