The sad life of an only child

Posted by Mommy on Jan 17, 2010 in Uncategorized

Abi is enthralled by peek-a-boo games.  We have a peek-aboo book, with flaps that can be lifted to reveal babies’ faces.  Daddy reports that Abi started “reading” the book herself.  She sat on the floor, lifted flaps, and laughed . . . all by herself.

Daddy reports abuse by baby

Posted by Mommy on Jan 13, 2010 in Uncategorized

Daddy reports that Baby Abi is abusing him.  Daddy read her the Tweety Shapes book.  He then tried to read her another book, but Abi grabbed the other book and shoved the Tweety book back at Daddy.  She made him read it six times, and hit him hard whenever he was not reading at a pace sufficiently fast enough for her.

So sad . . .

Posted by Mommy on Jan 12, 2010 in Uncategorized

I’ve started organizing Abi’s old clothes for storage.  I came across her little newborn onesies, summer dresses, little pajamas . . . it is so sad to think that she may soon be done with her babyhood.

Abi as compared to Theo, Part the Third

Posted by Gregg on Jan 2, 2010 in Uncategorized

While Daddy and I were sitting, Abi started wandering out of the living room.  We were joking about Mommy’s musings of Abi being like Theo behavior-wise, and Daddy told Abi he had cheese for her.

Then Abi turned around and crawled back towards us.  It dawned on us at that moment that she recognized Cheese as a treat.  This was the point we started to get a little disturbed by the connotations of this, because it meant that Mommy’s idea of Abi being similar to Theo was not entirely off.

As it turns out, Abi also knows the ‘sit’ command.

Daddy is a little bit concerned by this turn of events.  Theo is a very smart dog, but we want to believe Abi is a lot smarter than him.  On the other hand, if we can get Theo, Jasmine, and Abi to charge the kitchen next time they’re down in Merrick, it would be adorable.

Once Grandma stopped crying.

Gifts Galore

Posted by Mommy on Jan 1, 2010 in Uncategorized

Abi has really made out on gifts during the last week or so.  Some were gifted a long time ago, while others just arrived this week.

Abi loves her musical table.

She also got a large knob puzzle:

Abi loves her clapping book.  Mommy will put the book on Mommy’s lap, and Abi will crawl to Mommy because she wants Mommy to read this book.

Abi also received a great walker wagon.  She only got it about an hour ago, so she has not yet figured out that she can stand and push it along.  For now, she is pushing it while crawling.

Abi, the chick magnet

Posted by Mommy on Dec 31, 2009 in Uncategorized

Gruncle (Gregg the Uncle) walked around a supermarket with Abi while Mommy walked through the aisles picking food.  Gruncle reports that Abi is a great chick magnet.  Mommy offered to lend him Abi whenever he wants, since she wants to convince Gruncle to move to MA.

Daddy’s year in review 2009

Posted by Mommy on Dec 31, 2009 in Uncategorized

Daddy has put together his review of 2009 at Daddy’s blog/  His thoughts on Abi:

Our first kid, Abigail, was born on March 16. That sort of thing makes everything else feel sort of small in comparison. :)Abi continues to thrive and grow, and everyday, of course, is something new. Fortunately, she is routinely sleeping through the night, which makes everything just a little bit more manageable.

Mommy hasn’t had a chance to put her thoughts down yet.  Stay tuned.
