The downside of TiVo

I almost never watch commercials anymore, so I completely missed this until xkcd did its take on it …

Discovery Channel commercial

The science channel also has a neat commercial with Dandy Warhol’s I Am a Scientist, but I can’t find a link to it …

Happiness is …

… Giving your conference presentation on the first day of the conference (in fact, after the plenary, but before the first break), so you don’t have to worry about anything else for the rest of the conference.

My future as a pundit

Wow, I did pretty good.

iDevice 2.0 was announced, with delivery by end of June, but not on June 9 (as predicted)

iPhone 2 announced, but with delivery in early July (wow! nailed it!)

I also doubted the iPhone Nano / multiple form-factor thing (!)

3G Network and GPS, but no video conferencing (!)

.Mac revamped, with .mac being available on windows and play into the iPhone

10.6, I was right, but it wasn’t announced as the convergence platform. Oh well.

I was wrong about the one more thing. I doubted it as I was typing it, but went with it anyway.

so, 6 predictions, with 4 right, 1 wrong, and 1 half credit.

New Mac Day predictions

New mac day is Monday. Although I am pretty bad at these, my guesses:

  • iDevice 2.0 software demonstrated and date announced, full delivery by end of June, but not on June 9
  • iPhone 2 announced, with delivery in early July, but not on June 9. I doubt the iPhone Nano / multiple form-factor iPhone thing)
  • iPhone 2 has 3G network (duh) and GPS, but no video conferencing built in
  • .Mac revamped, with .Mac software also being available on windows (it will play into the iPhone somehow)
  • 10.6 is possible, I’m not sure how likely it is, and for it to be a 10.1-like bugfix upgrade is questionable
  • One more thing? I’d love a mac tablet. I’d buy it on monday if it comes, but I doubt it. I could see a new Mac Mini (Mac Nano?) or redesigned MBP.

So, my basic guess is:

  1. iDevice 2.0 software announced with a delivery date
  2. iPhone 2.0
  3. 10.6 / 10.5.4 being a point where iDevice / iTV / OSX converge to a common dev platform
  4. One more thing, but I’m not sure what that is, yet.
